Why “non-custodial” isn’t a marketing word for us
AXIO connects to your Binance account through an API key limited to reading and spot trading. It refuses any key with withdrawals enabled. Your funds never leave your account, in your name, the entire time — and that isn't a feature we can quietly change later.
A lot of products use "non-custodial" loosely. For AXIO it's a hard architectural boundary, so it's worth being precise about what it does and doesn't mean.
What AXIO connects with
When you connect Binance, you create an API key on your own account and paste it into AXIO. That key is scoped to two permissions:
- •Read — see balances, holdings, order history and live prices.
- •Spot & Margin Trading — place and cancel spot orders on your account.
AXIO stores that key encrypted (AES-GCM) and uses it to act on your account. It is never logged in plaintext and never shared.
What AXIO refuses
If the key you paste has withdrawals enabled, AXIO rejects the connection outright, with a message telling you why. It will not hold a withdrawal-capable key even in a "connected but unused" state. On top of that, Binance itself deletes a trading-enabled key that's left without an IP restriction — so live keys are tied to a single fixed egress address that the automation runs from.
What this means in practice
There is no code path by which AXIO can move money out of your Binance account. It can buy and sell spot positions inside the account; it cannot send funds anywhere. Your money stays on Binance, in your name, custodied by Binance, the whole time you use AXIO.
This is deliberately a constraint and not a setting. It shapes what the product can be — AXIO is a manager that operates your account, not a fund that holds your money — and that trade-off is the point, not a limitation we're planning to remove.
The honest caveats
Non-custodial removes one category of risk — someone running off with your funds. It does not remove market risk. AXIO trading your account can still lose money; crypto is volatile and capital is at risk. And you are trusting AXIO's code to place sensible orders on your behalf, which is why the sizing and risk rules are fixed and auditable rather than discretionary. Start on Binance's demo environment and watch it behave before any real money is involved.
